Going through the archives here at Poor Little It Girl and it's safe to say I love lace! This delicate fabric has been around of centuries and is the epitome of chic and feminine. In particular, I have an affinity for lace dresses. I love white lace dresses, green lace dresses, blue laced dresses, and lavender lace dresses. Oh wait, I almost forgot about a classic black lace dress too! The moral of the story, give me all the lace!
The best part about a lace dress is just how versatile it can be. You can create romantic looks, casual looks, edgy looks and even more formal outfits out of the same fabrication. Not only that, it's something that can be worn throughout the year, no matter the season. Of course, there are many different types of lace but the same rules apply that lace is a beloved staple in the fashion industry that we'll be wearing for years to come.
How To Style A Lace Dress
As I said, there are many ways to style a lace dress. And over the years, I've certainly paired my own lace dresses with just about anything and everything in my closet to create unique looks to fit the occasion. But right now, I have found myself leaning towards a simple, more effortless style when wearing my own lace dresses. So let's my favorite tips on how to style a lace dress.
Keep Accessories Simple
Of course, this look is all about the lace. I picked up this particular dress from Gap because the color was just gorgeous! It's this sort of blue-green shade that felt so perfect for spring. This particular dress is eyelet, so the open weblike pattern is a bit larger than say a finer lace dress.
Keep It Casual With Sneakers
Comfort is king, especially now that I am pregnant with baby number 2 and chasing a toddler around all day. So if I can wear comfortable sneakers, I will. Y'all know I'm a sucker for sneakers and dresses and I found I love the juxtaposition of the feminine eyelet paired with a more casual footwear option.
Add A Little Pop Of Color
Because I can't leave well enough alone, your girl had to add on a little bit of color! And for me, that's always going to be in the form of a bold lip. I've been wearing this Maybelline berry pink shade non-stop lately. It's one of those lip colors that work for almost every skin tone (even my fair skin!) and pairs perfectly with any outfit.

As I mentioned, there are so many different styles of lace and styles of lace dresses. The possibilities of lace outfits are endless! Formal Event
When it comes to dressing up for a formal event, you can never go wrong with lace. Either go bold with color or pick a more natural option, throw on a pair of heels and a great bag and you're dressed and ready to go for the big party! I just realized you can even do a lace pencil skirt and a lace top for an elegant format event look too. Love that idea!
Weekend Casual
Y'all know I'm all about the comfy and casual life, so this category is def more up my alley. I love the idea of pairing a feminine lace dress with sneakers or throwing a distressed denim jacket on top. You can even pick a shift-style dress that is a little more shapeless but still cute with espadrilles. As long as you are comfortable, you're doing it right!
Little White Lace Dress
For the bride-to-be or the girl that just loves white, don't sleep on owning and styling a little white lace dress. I found I've actually styled white lace dresses a few times here on Poor Little It Girl and for good reason – they're so cute! Dressed up with heels and a ladylike bag, or go with colorful sandals and a bold coat.
Date Night
I hate to admit that most of my date night looks involve jeans and heels. But now that the weather is warming up, give me a lace dress! You can go mini, midi, or maxi with your own lace dress and heels combination. Find a dress that maybe has an open back or side cut out to show a little skin. It's date night, after all, this is where you can really have some fun!
